This program is designed for sonographers, students of sonography, cardiac trainees, echocardiographers, and clinical cardiologists who interpret cardiovascular ultrasound. This program is co-sponsored by the American Society of Echocardiography and Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Topics include quantitative echocardiography, valvular and ischemic heart disease, stress echocardiography, advances in imaging in coronary disease, state-of-the-art and clinical applications of transesophageal echocardiography, diastology, physiological disease management, and myopericardial diseases. There will be a workshop on contrast for left ventricular opacification, 3-D echocardiography, CRT, basic and advanced measurements. For sonographers, there will be workshops on scanning techniques.

There have been significant developments in the minimally invasive treatment of hepatopancreatico-biliary disorders over the last decade with the advancement of technology. Currently techniques have matured for ablational therapy of liver tumors, and laparoscopic resection of liver and pancreatic tumors. Robotic technology has caused a technical shift, to being able to mimic open surgery with laparoscopic surgery with the versatility of robotic instruments. Nevertheless, it is rare to be trained both in hepato-biliary surgery and laparoscopic surgery due to various reasons.
